Feed Description: My thoughts on Java, software development and technology.
I popped along to the first half of the JavaUK06 conference yesterday and my overall experience was pretty positive. I was chatting about this to somebody yesterday, but there haven't really been any Java conferences in London for about 3 years. The last one I remember was Sun's "tech days" that were over two days in a hotel (somewhere near Edgware, I think).
This event was held in "The Brewery" on Chiswell Street (just outside of the city), which itself is a fantastic venue. My main reason for going was to listen to the first couple of sessions on the SOA track. One was a "this is where we are now with SOA" and the other was a slightly more detailed look at technologies like BPEL and JBI. We're using BPEL on one of my current projects, so it's always good to see what other people are doing.
The thing that I love about attending conferences is that I always leave feeling inspired, and this conference didn't disappoint in that respect. During the sessions I made a few notes here and there, so you'll be seeing some of those thoughts published over the next few days. I may have not been at the event for long, but I really do hope that it's not another 3 years before the next one!
