If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I guess I should be flattered by this training class which seems to be nothing more than a section by section regurgitation of JBoss: A Developer's Notebook. I used my own experience teaching JBoss training classes to put together as lean of an introduction to using JBoss as I could. So, I can definitely see how it might be used as the basis of a training class. I'm just rather surprised that someone would do that.

When I mentioned it to Sam, his first question is whether or not they have the right to do that. It does seem a bit sketchy, but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be able to teach a class around our book. I pointed out to Sam that they actually are selling copies of the book for us, so in a roundabout way we are even getting compensated for it.

Of course, skeptical Sam wondered if they were actually selling any seats. That's a good question. Why would you go to a third-party JBoss class when you can get training straight from the source? Hmmm...

I'm with you and don't think that is cool at all. We went the hard way and actually developed the entire JBoss Administration Couseware from the ground up.

We also run the ligitimate monthly hands-on instructor-led JBoss Administration Training Course in San Francisco.

Granted, it is not "straight from the source" but it is an alternative to JBoss's sky-high pricing.

Just my 5 cents...
