I have updated both my J2ME JVMs list and the Mobile Chip Platforms list. Its part of my information matrix that I use to determine the technologial and business feasibility of a mobile solution.

Sometimes you run into a one java class, Paul Graham, naive graudate that thinks you can just throw hours at it without doing the required homework and assumption verification. I have been through 2 mobile start-ups where they attempted that way and thye both did not succeed for these reasons and of course not listening to my solution of mapping the technology and limitations andthan solving the problem.

Currenlty in the LBS mess many business/consumer implementations require to solve the problem of mobile platforms without advanced LBS. You cannot solve this by attmepting to force advance LBS on those platforms due to the synching up with the cell gateway software. Certain Mobile Operators have solved this by using specifc cell gateway software to provide a different SMS and etc infrastructure to allow similar advanced LBS with LBS limited deivces on their networks. However, generally this not aviable to those companies that are the 3rd party servicce provider with the consuemr owning the deivce that the LBS service is proved to or used.

At some point I should add that subsection bookmark of cell gateway software such as parlay, gpsONE, and etc.

Maybe I might get lucky and the start-up that was choosing the wrong LBS solution may after discovering that their LBS solution will not work and that my informaiton and technical arguement should be reviewed. Plus, many people do not realize that to get the current LBS sate took appproximately 7 years with still no market saturation of advanced LBS devices as of yet. But, that is always the case when the Mobile technology has both mobile and cell gateway components in that it might take 7 to 15 years for everything to fall into place of rmarket saturation of mobile devices with those features in consumer hands.

Was the start-up mentioned that recenty tried to recruit me in Wired recently? Yes, the start up was in fact written up in Wired recently and I am keeping the name of the start-up and its founder slient for now because I believe young people always deserve a 2nd chance to correct very gross errors such as the wrong technology implementation for the market and lack of assumption veificaiton in a technology implementation.
