Why are there no rule sets in PMD for J2ME? say specifically general rules that check correct MIDlet being deinfed/created and than specific rules per profile and version nmumber.

It certainly would benefit all J2Me Developers and the new J2ME developers. I think xpath might be the obstacle of why we do not see as many new PMD rulesets. However, recent plugin improvements in specific IDEs seem to have lowered that obstacle.

Yes, this would be anice project to create at some point and push out J2ME specific PMD rulesets.
