The bad news is I have to put off the Sun app server serverdef plugin until the WTP 1.0 release in December. Still getting an internal error on external launch mode and a cannot find path of asenv set env script on the java launch mode.
The good news is that an improved Jonas serverdef plugin is being finished as the jonas servedef included with WTP 0.7.1 has errros. This plugin should be out this afternoon. The how to write a serverdef plugin should be also published tonight.
The whole idea of having a good set of serverdef plugins for all the major FOSS J2EE servers is that information on how to start as a begining WTP user and becoem a power WTP user is not out there online. Thus, I want to take all the demo projects out there in J2EE that covers everything from EJB to webservices and step thtough how to complete these using Eclipse WTP.
We could wait unitl some company decidees to commit money to pay someone to do the preparation work to write tutorials both on the J2EE side and webservices side. But as you know most companies do not pay for tech writing or put the all the financial risk on the author.
Quite frankly, putting alll the finanacial risk and not getting paid for the preparation work is fine if its an old application. But, in the realm where you are writing about new tools and projects the preparation work takes longer and should get paid. The only way to make this happen is to get a book deal in a fast manner not in a slow year manner.
My hope is that the publishers that were interested before in my tech wriitng, such as Pearson, PrenticeHall, Addison Wesley and etc; might be willing to take on the challenge of paying someone to develop a book series on Eclipse WTP.
