Well, I had to switch back the java launch mode within the servdef file. Apparently, the external launch still has interaction problems with Sun Server. The java launch mode works but server hangs whne attempting to get rmi set-up via the jmx conncetor, ie it timesout.

Everyone posts this problem and the jvm-options assign rmi host does not alleviate the problem. Strange part is the 8686 port is not being used and I do not have MS firewall enabled. hmm...
