Neither you nor Dvorak apparently understands Commons. It's actually pretty simple. Its intent is to provide something in between normal copyright protection and public domain. It allows an artist/author the ability to relinquish some of his/her rights (whereas putting a work in the public domain gives up *all* rights).

One example of the problem it solves is "how do I give away my work for non-commercial use without having to pay an IP lawyer $1000?"
