You may wonder what is Symbian's and Microsoft's nightmare in the embedded space. According to this Reuters article it may be the free adoption of linux in the mebedded device space amoung Consumer Electronics Manufacturers.

And what is really scary amoung Microsoft halls is that CE Manufactures understand the importance of running Java on all these devices as far as having one api to write to and use.
