It appears that code that SCO Group claims has been copied from System V
to Linux was at times the exact code that SCO Group(formely Caldera)
distributed under BSD license
according to this LWN article. Thus, the question has to be asked,
when will McBride tell the truth?
BTW, this is more than likely the
motive behind the movement of OpenSource people to politely ask SCO Group
to show code proof so that all the SCO Group lies can come to light. It is
also may be the real reason SCO Group does not want to show code in public
without an NDA.
The only thing left is for the the potential SEC
fraud investigation to become public along with the future potential bad
showing of Boise law skills in court on SCO Group's behalf.
Side
Note: This is not the only release of System V code to the public
under a less restrictive license that SCO Group has completed. There was
also numerous code submissions in NUMA, and etc from SCO Group-Caldera
employees encompassing System V code under GPL made to Linux. It remains
to be seen if a 100% of the SCO Group claims are entirely false. However,
given SCO Groups current record of truth telling it might be agued that
the case is fully supports Linux not SCO Group.
Update:
Burce Perens full code analysis of this BSD code is
