Desktop Java Live was officially made available for purchase on the SourceBeat site Tuesday afternoon. Both the subscription and print on demand versions should be available. Version 1.0 clocks in at just over 300 pages. It contains over 100 code examples and 120 visual images illustrating them. Topics covered include Threading, Look and Feel, and GUI Layout. Finally the JGoodies Binding framework (Chapter 6, 60 Pages) and new JGoodies Validation framework (Chapter 7, 45 Pages) are also covered in detail.
It has been a rewarding 6 months writing this first version of DJL. I would have never guessed the amount of work involved in writing before this process started. I have nothing but respect for anyone that takes the time to author a technical book.
Now that 1.0 is out, I'll begin on the sample application chapters. The rough agenda also calls for chapters on deployment, testing, and communications. Please feel free to chime in with any other suggestions of topics. I also plan on blogging more (instead of just pasting links) and putting up a few mini articles on topics covered in the book.
I'd like to thank everyone that has added a comment about the book on ClientJava.com, sent me an email, or taken time out of their busy day to discuss a something over the phone with me. Your contributions have been greatly appreciated.
