Chapter 5 from Desktop Java Live is now available on Java.net for download. This chapter details how Swing's threading system works. It then provides detailed examples using the various SwingUtilities methods related to threading. Finally, the structured threading solutions of SwingWorker, Foxtrot, and Spin are covered. These frameworks simplify writing multi-threaded desktop applications in Swing. Later this year I'll be updating the Foxtrot section to cover Foxtrot 3.0 when a stable version is released.
