Its not that
other IDEs are not good its that Eclipse seems to fit my environment and
the need to customize the development process for coding in J2ME and J2ee
for Mobile devices.The book is writtne by the IBM Jumpstart team, the same
team that taught IBM employees how to use Eclipse coming from VisualAge
Java tools since 1999. Thus, 3+ years of experience in extending Eclipse
has been packed into this hefty volume.
Some of the menus have
changed between Eclipse2.0 which the book was written for and Eclipse2.1;
but thsoe differences are minor. Also, IBM employees have commented on
the Amazon page that the book represents almost the full amterial in the
IBM Eclipse course costing $1,000.
