So, I'm there, unable to figure out why after installing the feedparser to the Python 2.4 install on this new laptop, I can't import it. It turns out the ThinkPad already had Python 2.2 preinstalled in C:/IBMTOOLS. It was at the top of the path, not 2.4 - I just hadn't paid attention to the version strings. Neat. I wonder what it's being used for. PHP support, eh?...
