Its kind of ironic that we have iTV deployment in India before USA. Accroding to Indiantelevision dot com's article, the sunscriber base 4 million currently and will include pay per view, MHP applicaiton, upgradeable stbs by remote control and etc. It has both analog and digital headends to make sure boht legacy sets and new sets can view content.

There is alos a MS polling component of end users thus they must be running J2ME in the STBs that the end users use. One of the future phases is also to provide internet access so they are going for the full iTV implementation.

Thus far in the US we have not even reached 1 million in subscribers in any rollout of iTV.
