Just a quick update... My new book "Test-Driven Development: Practical Guide" will be on shelves in a matter of weeks. I'll at various conferences this summer/fall so find me & say hi. To kick things off I'll be in Toronto Jul 14-16 at Smalltalk Solutions where I'll be teaching TDD in Smalltalk. Aug 10-13 I'll be in New Orleans at XPAU teaching a tutorial on TDD in Java. Check it out. Dave

Whilst I accept seeing authors mentioning the books and the like, as a (minor) aside in articles they have written. I'm a bit disturbed to see web log entries that consist only of an advert. I really hope this isn't going to be a trend. I read blogs to be stimulated by ideas not adverts and I read Artima's blogs because, to date, that stimulation has generally been of a high quality.

Perhaps I'm being too picky, but that's my reaction to this entry.

Vince.

No.. it won't be a habit from me. It's something that's happening with me, so I mention it. I have a more interesting entry in the works.

I just received my copy! Congratulations, Dave, it looks good. I particularly like the foreword. No, seriously, good stuff and my sincere congratulations!

I picked TDDAPG up right after it hit the shelves, and I'm just starting to work through the examples.

I agree with the "instant classic" designation -- the book provides not only a nice introduction to TDD, but also a nice overview of some of the growing list of TDD support tools out there.

Software in the 00's feels a lot like manufacturing in the '70s - huge quality concerns coupled with growing awareness of competitive threats from overseas. The US and Europe will continue to be great places to write software, but only if you are organizationally *really* good at it. The software industry is searching for its Deming -- maybe it starts here.

Super book and great overview of the next step forward.
