My internet explorer browser constantly freezes or crash. keep getting this error

n unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.
Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION occurred at PC=0x6D00B214
Function=Java_sun_java2d_loops_MaskFill_MaskFill+0x6DE4
Library=C :\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.0\bin\awt.dll

can someone please help,
