what do u mean by not working properly..
U can use
RequestDispatcher().forward()also.

u use sendRedirect() when you want to redirect the user browser to other location.

u use RequestDispatcher().forward() on servlet A to pass the control to other servlet on the same server
say user requested page A and you redirect the web container to send the user output of other servlet on the same server
