I have checked this subject on this and other Forums but can't seem to get a definitive resolution to my problem.

I have a program located at

http://cs.franklin.edu/~jenkin08/rrform.html

which I can access and others who have the new version of Java (1.4.1 I believe) loaded on their PC can access. I have read that the HTML Converter can alter my html file and direct any user's PC to the Java plug-in that will enable them to view my program. I have done that and it comprises the html file referenced above.

I have had two people (who do not have Java 1.4.1 on their PC) try to access my program at the above site with the following responses:

1. Grey box with message Load: class file not found

2. I get an error 'unterminated string constant' -- to which I say continue --
then I get the same error -- to which I say continue -- and then I get the
grey screen

I am new to Java but trying to learn what I am doing wrong. I am a student but this is not part of the assignment. I just would like to understand how to make a JApplet accessible to everyone. I have asked my instructors and they either say it is not required for this assignment or they can view it and do not perceive the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I might try?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen similar problems happening. One possible answer is found in the browser: as Microsoft provides a propietary virtual machine with their OS you have to set your browser (IE) to use only the runtime they give you. If you don't, a grey box will appear.

PD: Check out and modify advanced options in the IE :

Tools -> Internet Options panel.
