On JVM-based languages Posted: May 25, 2009 2:19 AM

Hi guys,

I am recently looking into how JVM-based languages are evolving and becoming popular, and I came across with this article:
http://tiagofernandez.blogspot.com/2009/05/java-integration-with-groovy-jruby-and.html

It's talking on Java integration with JVM-based languages. I didn't look in detail into the coding part, but I found the profiling bit rather interesting.

Two short personal questions:

1. As Java programmers, are you keeping an eye on those JVM-based non-Java languages? Or already have some hands on them? Or not quite interested?

2. Do you agree with the articles conclusion, that among those 3 tested languages, Scala is the fastest, least memory-demanding, least garbage generating, and therefore the most suited for the enterprise world?

Btw, I am not technically a Java programmer, that's partially why I came here for help...

Thanks!
