Although you can learn to program, and program well, without
understanding the theoretical foundations of computer science,
I think it is helpful to have some grasp of the math behind
the machine. I have always found the mathematical foundations
of computer science interesting, and I plan to
do some writing on that subject.

understand the mathematical underpinnings of computers.
